Man charged with trying to bribe nurse into updating his vaccination records without getting jabbed

SINGAPORE — A 34-year-old man was charged on Thursday (Jan 13) with allegedly offering a S$50 bribe to a part-time nurse involved in Covid-19 vaccination last year.

Court documents stated that Kelvin Tan Li Ming, a Singaporean, is accused of corruptly offering the gratification to the nurse on Oct 26 last year at the Healthway Vaccination Centre located at Chua Chu Kang Community Club.

Tan allegedly tried to bribe the nurse, who was employed by Homage Home Care, hoping she would record that he had been given his second Pfizer-BioNTech (Comirnaty) Covid-19 vaccination dose, without actually giving him the jab.

In a press release from the Corrupt Practices Investigation Bureau (CPIB) about the matter on Wednesday, it said that the nurse rejected the bribe offer.

No other information was given either in the court documents or CPIB’s press release.

Tan is set to appear in court again on Feb 17.

Anyone convicted of a corruption offence can be fined up to S$100,000 or jailed up to five years, or both.
