SINGAPORE — The managing director and group chief executive of civil engineering company Swee Hong has relinquished his position post following a bankruptcy order issued against him.

In its filing with the Singapore Exchange on Monday (Feb 22), the company said that Mr Ong Hock Leong, 44, stepped down from his positions on Feb 18.

Mr Mohamed Amanullah, 39, was appointed the acting group CEO on Feb 19 in Mr Ong’s place. Mr Amanullah will also continue to serve in his current role as chief financial officer.

Mr Ong’s lawyers had informed Swee Hong’s board of directors that a bankruptcy order had been made on Feb 18. Consequently, his office as director of the company was vacated in accordance with Section 148 of the Companies Act, Chapter 50.

Mr Ong has agreed to the board’s request for him to remain an advisor to the board and management team considering his experience.
