Man to be charged with murder after death of another man at Yishun Ring Road
SINGAPORE: A 49-year-old man was arrested on Saturday (Jul 27) for the suspected murder of a 35-year-old man at a flat in Yishun Ring Road.
The police said they were called to the case at about 8.35am on Saturday.
The victim was found lying motionless and he was pronounced dead at the scene.
According to preliminary investigations, both men knew each other.
The suspect was arrested at the scene and he will be charged in court on Jul 28. The offence of murder carries the death penalty.
When CNA arrived at the scene just before 11am, there were several police vehicles. A crime-scene investigation team was seen walking towards Block 803 Yishun Ring Road.
Police officers were going in and out of a flat on the 10th floor of the block. Blood was seen outside the unit.
According to a 12th-floor resident at the opposite block who only wanted to be known as Jerry, he heard shouting between two men at around 8am, thinking it could be his neighbours downstairs.
He saw police cars when he went out to buy breakfast at around 10am.
A resident on the sixth floor, Azamad, said he had known the victim for more than 10 years as neighbours, although they were not close.
He told CNA that he last saw the victim on Monday when they spoke in the lift.
The Singapore Civil Defence Force said it received a call for assistance at about 8.40am, adding that one person was pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigations are ongoing, police said.
