SINGAPORE — New year, new logo: With the commemoration of SG50 now over, a new SG logo was unveiled as Singapore ushered in 2016.
The Ministry of Culture, Community and Youth’s (MCCY) SG50 Twitter account posted the new logo online - a variation of the original with the numerals ‘50’ taken out.
“Let us welcome our new “SG” logo - it represents our kindling Singaporean spirit that lives in the things we do," said the Twitter account.
On Facebook, the Singapore50 account thanked Singaporeans for supporting and making SG50 a “most special year”. “Some exciting changes are happening, so stayed tuned to find out what.”
Some users on social media also shared an adaptation of the SG50 logo. They tweeted an “SG51” logo in their new year greetings.
The new official “SG” logo has so far garnered mixed response from the public.
One Reddit user reacted with a simple "Groan", while several others on Facebook commented "Nice", "Very good", and "Sweet".
