The Istana opens its doors for Hari Raya
The Istana grounds, excluding the Istana Lawn, will be open to the public on Wednesday, from 8.30am to 6pm. Some of the highlights include music performances as well as other activities such as a display of birds by Wildlife Reserves Singapore and balloon sculpting. There will also be guided tours.
UN secretary-general Ban Ki-moon visits China
United Nations secretary-general Ban Ki-moon will be in China on Wednesday for a five day visit. Mr Ban will have discussions with Chinese President Xi Jinping, Premier Li Keqiang, State Councillor Yang Jiechi and Foreign Minister Wang Yi on international issues, including UN-China cooperation. Mr Ban’s trip comes days before the July 12 Permanent Court of Arbitration’s ruling on a case brought by the Philippines against China over its territorial claims in the South China Sea, which has raised tensions in the region.
It’s Ronaldo vs Bale at Euro 2016
The Euro 2016 semi-final match on Wednesday night (3am Thursday morning, Singapore time) between Portugal and Wales pits the world’s two most expensive players — as well as Real Madrid team mates — Cristiano Ronaldo and Gareth Bale against each other.
