Wendy Lim resigns from PAP

SINGAPORE — Ms Wendy Lim, the woman in the centre of an alleged scandal which ended the political career of ex-Bukit Batok MP David Ong, has resigned from the People's Action Party (PAP), Today understands.

Ms Lim, 41, was an active party member and grassroots volunteer, according to multiple media reports and photos, now inaccessible, on the Facebook page of the Bukit Batok PAP Women's Wing. She also assisted Mr Ong when he campaigned in Bukit Batok during last year's General Elections.

Mr Ong resigned abruptly on Saturday (March 12), citing "personal indiscretions". The 54-year-old has not responded to repeated requests by TODAY to clarify reports linking his resignation to an alleged extramarital affair with Ms Lim.

According to Channel NewsAsia, Ms Lim is the sales director of logistics firm Pacific Integrated Logistics and is currently on a leave of absence from the company.

TODAY had earlier asked the PAP about the status of Ms Lim's membership in the party. A PAP spokesman wrote in an email reply on Monday: "As the matter is undergoing investigations, we are unable to provide further details at the moment.”
