SINGAPORE — Nightlife operator Zouk Group has turned its dance floor into an “immersive” cinema as part of its effort to diversify its business in an industry hard hit by the Covid-19 pandemic.

The new “Zouk Cinema Club” promises guests an “immersive one-of-a-kind theatrical experience with dramatic, state-of-the-art lighting and sound-system effects”, said the operator in a media release on Wednesday (Oct 28).

Screenings will be held four evenings a week — Wednesdays to Saturdays.

Among the offerings are bi-monthly themed nights and a selection of food and beverage options.

The move comes as part of the group’s “re-emergence strategy” to utilise Zouk in a “post-pandemic landscape”, the statement added.

DIVERSIFICATION AMIDST COVID-19

This is not the first time since the pandemic hit that the group has launched initiatives to diversify its business.

In August, Zouk’s Capital lounge space was transformed into a pop-up restaurant named Capital Kitchen.

The group also started offering indoor cycling classes from Oct 12, with its main room becoming a spin studio by day.

Chief executive officer Andrew Li previously said the response for the spin studio had been “fantastic”, and expects a similar demand for the Cinema Club.

The minimum age to attend a screening is 18.

Covid-19 measures still apply, including the five-person rule, and guests are required to use the TraceTogether app or token to enter.
