2105 BERRETTINI BEATS WAWRINKA IN MARATHON MATCH
Italy's Matteo Berrettini ended Stan Wawrinka's final Wimbledon appearance in a marathon four-set match that lasted nearly 4-1/2 hours. Berrettini rallied after dropping the opening set to secure a 6-7(7) 7-6(16) 7-6(7) 7-6(5) victory.
2055 SERENA WILLIAMS COMEBACK ENDED BY JOINT
Serena Williams' singles comeback at Wimbledon ended in the first round on Tuesday after a three-set defeat to Australia’s Maya Joint, who beat the American veteran 6-3 6-7(6) 6-3.
1806 ZVEREV BEATS BLOCK
World number three and reigning French Open champion Alexander Zverev overcame a stern challenge from Belgium's Alexander Blockx, after a battle lasting nearly three hours. Zverev won 6-4 6-7(8) 7-6(5) 7-6(0).
1620 SVITOLINA CRASHES IN FIRST ROUND
Eighth seed Elina Svitolina became the first top-10 casualty in the women's draw, squandering a 4-0 first-set lead before fellow Ukrainian Daria Snigur rallied to claim a 7-5 6-2 victory.
In the men's draw, Czech Jakub Mensik survived a fierce test from British wildcard Toby Samuel, prevailing 5-7 6-3 6-3 3-6 7-6(7) in a gripping five-set contest to reach the second round.
1610 RYBAKINA THROUGH, SHELTON STUNNED
Elena Rybakina, the 2022 champion, overcame a stern test from Frenchwoman Lois Boisson to reach the second round with a 6-4 1-6 6-3 victory.
In the men's draw, Finnish qualifier Otto Virtanen claimed the biggest win of his career by stunning American Ben Shelton 6-4 3-6 6-7(8) 6-2 7-6(11-9) after more than four hours on the court.
1400 SWIATEK ADVANCES
Third seed Iga Swiatek survived a stern test from American Taylor Townsend, recovering from a second-set dip to seal a 6-1 2-6 6-3 victory. The defending champion appeared overcome with emotion after match point, burying her head in a towel as she celebrated the hard-fought win.
Earlier, men's sixth seed Taylor Fritz enjoyed a more straightforward passage, dispatching Serbia's Dusan Lajovic 6-3 6-4 6-3 to kick off his campaign.
1330 DE MINAUR INTO ROUND TWO
Fifth seed Alex de Minaur progressed to the second round with a commanding victory over Argentina's Roman Andres Burruchaga. After edging a tight opening-set tiebreak, the Australian took complete control, conceding just one game across the final two sets to seal a 7-6(5) 6-1 6-0 win.
1230 COMEBACK WIN FOR PAOLINI
2024 Wimbledon finalist Jasmine Paolini recovered from a nightmare start to reach the second round, fighting back to beat American Robin Montgomery. The 13th-seeded Italian was swept aside 6-0 in the opening set by the world number 195 but showed her resilience to seal a 0-6 6-4 7-5 victory.
1120 ANISIMOVA THROUGH TO SECOND ROUND, BOULTER EXITS
Amanda Anisimova, last year's finalist, advanced to the second round after a 6-3 6-2 win over North Macedonia's Lina Gjorcheska.
The disappointment continued for home fans as Katie Boulter suffered a first-round defeat to 18-year-old Tyra Grant, losing 6-4 6-2. Boulter's exit followed a grim first day for the hosts, with 10 Britons already eliminated.

Play began under overcast skies at the All England Club, with the temperature hovering around 20 degrees Celsius.
