From April, nine in 10 HDB residents will be within a five-minute walk of a beverage container return point.

Around 1,000 return points will be launched at major supermarkets and high-traffic footfall areas. That number is expected to double in the first year of operations.

The reverse vending machines will accept used cans and bottles between 150ml to 3L, in exchange for a S$0.10 (US$0.07) refundable deposit for every container returned.
