Endangered Philippine cockatoos hatch first chick in Singapore at Bird Paradise
The Philippine cockatoo is listed as critically endangered, fewer than 750 remain in the wild.
“These birds are notoriously difficult to breed in human care," said Anaïs Tritto, Assistant Vice President, Animal Care (Operations), Mandai Wildlife Group.
The chick’s parents were rescued in Palawan, Philippines, and transferred to Singapore in 2015. They had not bred since - until now.
