Mr Low Choon Yong has always loved singing from a young age but it wasn’t until he learned the bel canto technique when he was 50, that he realised he has been doing it wrong all along.
The bel canto technique, Italian for "beautiful singing", produces a voice that sounds effortless yet fills a space completely.
The 75-year-old regularly practises singing at Woodlands Crescent Park, armed with a pitch app on his mobile phone.
After nearly two decades of mastering the proper technique, Mr Low now teaches it to a small circle of friends every other Sunday.
His daughter suggested posting videos on TikTok to share his singing technique with a younger crowd.
His TikTok account, which features him singing trending music in an operatic style, has since garnered more than 30,000 followers and 2.5 million likes.
