Sentosa unveils plan to cool key visitor areas by 4°C without air-conditioning
Sentosa will implement a series of 10 cool nodes and zones along its main thoroughfare between now and 2030.
The nodes and zones will include the use of mist, shades, fans, hydration points and greenery.
A new type of pavement will be trialled at Siloso Beach, made of a material that will be at least 20 per cent cooler than conventional concrete.
Sentosa's only cool zone at the moment is the Weave, a lifestyle hub that opened its doors in July.
The Weave at Resorts World Sentosa taps on cold air that is produced as a by-product from heat pumps.
The area is also shaded by membranes that remove 70 to 75 per cent of solar heat.
