'The Swiftologist': A full-time Taylor Swift content creator in Singapore
Zachary Hourihane quit his corporate job in 2024 to build a career critiquing pop culture. He now runs a hit YouTube channel, podcast and Patreon.
Known as The Swiftologist, his key focus is Taylor Swift: "She has been at the forefront of many different shifts within the industry."
Because Hourihane is a proud Swiftie, he's gotten flak for his critiques of her career moves. But "being honest is more important to me than pleasing Taylor Swift".
"If I have to be the thorn in the side to reintroduce honest feedback into conversations about music to prove that I have a point, it’s worth it to me.”
Hourihane isn't only driven by love for cultural discourse, but respect for his audience: “I don’t belittle them (or) think they’re stupid."
As such, his opinions "change quite a lot," he says. "It’s not because I don’t have a firm belief, but because I’m very open to my mind being changed based on the information that’s available.”
