Adjournment motion on affordable motorcycle ownership
Make motorcycles more affordable for Singaporeans who rely on them to get around and to make a living. MP Muhamad Faisal Abdul Manap made this call in an adjournment motion in Parliament on Tuesday (Oct 5) and proposed ways to make this possible. These include tweaking the Vehicle Quota System by splitting the Certificate of Entitlement for motorcycles into sub-categories according to vehicle classes, as well as allocating areas for dispatch and delivery riders. In response, Senior Parliamentary Secretary for Transport Baey Yam Keng explained why the proposals may not work. He said the Government understands the concerns of motorcycle owners and is mindful of their needs. It will monitor the situation closely and take action if there is a need to.
