An Air India plane has crashed in the western city of Ahmedabad, minutes after take-off. 242 people were on board the Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner bound for London Gatwick. Flight AI171 issued a mayday call before plunging into a civilian area near the airport perimeter. Air India said among the passengers were 169 Indian nationals, 53 British, seven Portuguese and one Canadian. Earlier reports suggested there may be survivors, but the latest report from authorities says possibly there are none.
