Alex Yam on CareShield Life and Long-Term Care (Amendment) Bill
CareShield Life is a key pillar of Singapore’s response to the country’s demographic transformation and the CareShield Life and Long-Term Care (Amendment) Bill continues the government's careful and compassionate work to strengthen the national framework of long-term care, said MP Alex Yam. Speaking in parliament on Wednesday (Oct 15), he highlighted the need to build trust and strengthen the implementation of the scheme. He noted that CareShield Life operates in conjunction with other schemes and wanted to know how the Ministry of Health (MOH) would ensure that families experience these as a coherent ecosystem, rather than as fragmented programmes. A one-stop care portal that integrates financial, medical and social services could make a meaningful difference, he said.
