Alex Yam on Cybersecurity (Amendment) Bill
Proposed amendments to the Cybersecurity Act represent a “pivotal opportunity” to strengthen Singapore’s defences against cyber threats by bolstering accountability, expanding regulatory frameworks and empowering the Cyber Security Agency, said MP Alex Yam. He called for a clear and standardised structure for owners of Critical Information Infrastructure (CII), and others, to report cybersecurity incidents. He also noted that the Bill does not specify how CIIs will be monitored, which could lead to companies under-reporting for fear of revealing trade secrets or expertise. Mr Yam spoke in Parliament on Tuesday (May 7).
