Alvin Tan on safeguarding animal welfare
Over the past three years, the National Parks Board received and investigated an average of 75 alleged animal cruelty cases involving community animals each year. Two cases were referred for prosecution during this period. Minister of State for National Development Alvin Tan, who gave this update in reply to an MP’s question in parliament on Wednesday (Aug 5), said the government is reviewing the Animals and Birds Act to ensure that it remains effective in deterring animal cruelty and abuse.
