Alvin Tan on support for managers of Singapore companies

The World Management Survey seeks to measure the quality of management practices in companies in selected countries and sectors. While it provides useful data, it is not conducted on a regular basis nor on a consistent sample of countries. Singapore tracks the performance of its firms and economic competitiveness through other data points and surveys instead. Minister of State for Trade and Industry Alvin Tan said this in reply to an MP's questions in Parliament on Thursday (Feb 23). He said Singapore remains committed to raising the managerial capabilities of its workforce. Sector agencies monitor the performance of their sectors closely and provide companies with the necessary support to transform their business and workforce. The Government supports ecosystem partners, such as training providers, employers and trade associations and chambers, in managerial skills training. It also helps local enterprises grow their business and leadership capabilities through programmes like Enterprise Singapore’s Enterprise Leadership for Transformation.
