Amy Khor on measures to curb rising motorcycle COEs
In March 2022, the Land Transport Authority raised the Category D Certificate of Entitlement (D COE) bid deposit from S$200 to S$800, and shortened the validity period of the temporary COE from six months to three months to encourage prudent bidding behaviour. This was done to mitigate concerns that dealers were speculatively bidding for and holding on to Category D temporary COEs in light of rising Category D COE quota premiums. Senior Minister of State for Transport Amy Khor said this in reply to an MP's question in Parliament on Tuesday (Feb 28). Dr Khor added that there has also been a change to the method of computation for COE quotas, but stated that the impact of some of the changes might take time to flow through. She said the Ministry of Transport will continue to monitor the situation closely and consider further actions if necessary.
