Amy Khor on plastic recycling

Plastics are generated in large quantities in Singapore, but the recycling rate is low. Various initiatives have been put in place to drive plastic recycling on both the domestic and industrial fronts, said Senior Minister of State for Sustainability and the Environment Amy Khor. A new beverage container return scheme will be launched by mid-2024 and Government agencies are exploring innovative solutions with the private sector such as chemical recycling which can process plastics that cannot be mechanically recycled. Ms Khor was responding to an MP’s questions in Parliament on Wednesday (Nov 9).
