Ang Wei Neng on Environmental Public Health (Amendment) Bill

06:05 Min

The proposed measure to hold flat owners and tenants responsible for litter thrown from their units will lead to residents taking stronger ownership in preventing littering and reduce the inconvenience caused by such acts, said MP Ang Wei Neng. Speaking in Parliament on Monday (Feb 6), he wanted to know if the National Environment Agency (NEA) has invested enough in better cameras to monitor a wider area. Stressing that good laws must come with effective enforcement, he wanted to know if NEA can double the number of cameras to be deployed. He also hopes NEA will be able to use Artificial Intelligence to detect killer litter offenders.
