Ang Wei Neng on Platform Workers Bill
The Platform Workers Bill is about recognising the hard work and contributions of platform workers and giving them the protection and respect they deserve, said MP Ang Wei Neng. Speaking in Parliament on Tuesday (Sep 10), he highlighted the need to ensure that CPF contributions are fair. He pointed out that platform workers are paid based on their productivity, and is not determined by age. He urged the Government to ensure balance, fairness and practicality in the contribution rate from platform operators for their workers. He also stressed the need to keep an eye on the likely increase in costs. He wanted to know what measures can be taken to prevent platform companies from raising prices and passing on the increased costs to consumers, as well as ensuring that platform workers do not lose their rightful benefits because of free market operations.
