Vancouver community holds vigils across city after street festival tragedy

Authorities described it as the "darkest day" in the city's history. Local community members have gathered to pay respects, lighting candles, laying flowers and writing notes. Messages of condolences and support have also poured in from across the globe. The carnage took place just as tens of millions of Canadians prepared to vote for their next prime minister.
