Baey Yam Keng on pedestrian safety on paths and roads
In Parliament on Wednesday (May 10), Senior Parliamentary Secretary for Transport Baey Yam Keng shared details of “extensive” public education campaigns that have been conducted by the Land Transport Authority and Traffic Police to remind pedestrians how to stay safe on roads and paths. This includes not using mobile phones and electronic devices when crossing the road. He said when accidents happen, there are usually a variety of reasons, and not just pedestrians but motorists and/or other road and path users may be responsible. Mr Baey was replying to an MP who said more pedestrians are getting involved in traffic accidents and asked if the current level of road safety education is adequate.
