Budget 2021 debate: Rachel Ong on helping children from low-income families

In Parliament on Thursday (Feb 25), MP Rachel Ong welcomed the proposed expansion of the Community Link programme designed to support families living in rental flats. She suggested two ways to better help children from disadvantaged households - first, through long-term mentoring; and second, by inculcating personal saving habits in the kids. Ms Ong proposed automatic enrolment into the National School Savings Campaign for these children, along with other initiatives to encourage saving.
