Budget 2022 debate: Mohd Fahmi Aliman on support for lower-wage workers
The National Trades Union Congress (NTUC) is committed to helping workers in "every step of the way" to fight for a fairer and more progressive society, said MP Mohd Fahmi Aliman. Speaking in Parliament on Tuesday (Mar 1), he said as Singapore charts its way forward, it should remain sensitive to the challenges and concerns of vulnerable workers, especially lower-wage and migrant workers. He said the best way to help workers cope with the cost of living is through better wages and better jobs. He also urged the Government to consider expanding the Progressive Wage Model to strata and facilities management and pest management. He said NTUC has conducted several engagements with stakeholders in these sectors and the response has been very encouraging.
