Budget 2026 debate: Vikram Nair on preparing for a new world order
Singapore must prepare for a world in which non-compliance with international law is going to be more common, said MP Vikram Nair in parliament on Tuesday (Feb 24). This means continuing to champion multilateralism while widening its network of partnerships. He noted that smaller groupings of like-minded states can move faster and more pragmatically when progress stalls at global levels. He also said Singapore should strengthen its capacity in emerging domains of competition and capitalise on its “unique position to play a bridging role in the new world order”.
