Central Narcotics Bureau evaluating use of instant hair testing to detect drug use

02:49 Min

An instant hair-testing kit to screen for drug use is being evaluated. If successful, Singapore's Central Narcotics Bureau said this will enhance its testing capabilities and supervision regime. This method is more hygienic compared with urine tests that are now done onsite. Apart from this innovation, anti-drug efforts are also focusing on the growing number of young abusers. At the annual CNB workplan seminar, it was revealed that 16 people under the age of 16 have been arrested for drug offences in the first four months this year, compared to 24 for the entire 2023. Aslam Shah reports.
