Chan Chun Sing on merger of Yale-NUS College with NUS’ University Scholars Programme
The National University of Singapore (NUS) must continue to evolve by learning from the best internationally while charting its own path. A new college to be set up by merging Yale-NUS College (YNC) with NUS’ University Scholars Programme (USP) is an important step in this roadmap, Education Minister Chan Chun Sing told Parliament on Monday (Sep 13). He said it will bring together the best features of YNC and USP, while offering economies of scale and reducing costs. In reply to MPs’ questions on the merger, Mr Chan also spoke about the decision-making process and support for students, faculty and staff in the transition.
