Chee Hong Tat on abuse of bus captains
There were 26 reported cases of abuse against bus captains in 2018, 52 in 2019, 50 in 2020, 35 in 2021 and 27 so far this year. Giving the figures in Parliament on Monday (Nov 28), Senior Minister of State for Transport Chee Hong Tat said the trend is going “in the right direction”. He added that protective barriers were trialled on buses but have been discontinued as bus captains gave feedback that the glare from the barriers posed a safety risk to them when driving. Mr Chee was answering MPs’ questions in the House.
