Committee of Supply 2021 debate, Day 2: Rachel Ong on Singapore’s ties with Malaysia and Indonesia

Singapore’s ties with Malaysia and Indonesia were the focus of MP Rachel Ong’s questions in Parliament on Monday (Mar 1). She asked if there are plans to reopen the border with Johor, given the start of COVID-19 inoculation campaigns on both sides of the Causeway. She also asked how the pandemic has impacted high-level interactions with Malaysia which help set the tone and direction of the bilateral relationship. As for Indonesia, Ms Ong wanted to know how both sides are working together to overcome the challenges posed by COVID-19 and maintain essential connections and economic links.
