Committee of Supply 2021 debate, Day 3: Alvin Tan on tech transformation, support for tourism industry

14:24 Min
Tech adoption is no longer an option but an imperative amid COVID-19, said Minister of State for Trade and Industry Alvin Tan in Parliament on Tuesday (Mar 2). Despite COVID-19, more tech companies have set up shop in Singapore, he said, citing Singapore's sustained leadership in the digital field as a factor. In response to MPs' questions on support for the tourism sector, he said the JSS would be extended by six months and there would be support for wages paid between April and September. The waiver of licence fees for hotels, travel agents and tourist guides will be extended till December.
