Committee of Supply 2021 debate, Day 4: Melvin Yong on EV charging points and disposal of EV batteries

In Parliament on Wednesday (Mar 3), MP Melvin Yong raised concerns over the switch to electric vehicles (EVs). His first concern revolved around the installation of charging points. He wanted to know how the country would cope with an increase in the number of EVs. His second concern was on the disposal of EV batteries - that they may explode if they are dumped at landfills. He wanted to know how the Government will ensure the sustainable disposal and recycling of EV batteries.
