The National Environment Agency should extend its Toilet Improvement Programme (TIP) beyond March 2022 for works to be completed for toilets to qualify for its grants. It should conduct a pilot scheme at a very heavily utilised public toilet in a busy hawker centre to see how viable the recommended features of the TIP are. Leader of the Opposition Pritam Singh, who made these suggestions in Parliament on Thursday (Mar 4), said it is important to study the "steady state condition" of the pilot toilet, which should be clearer after a few months of use.
