Committee of Supply 2022 debate, Day 2: Baey Yam Keng on growing the manufacturing sector
The Ministry of Trade and Industry announced a 10-year plan last year to grow Singapore's manufacturing sector and maintain its 20 per cent share of Gross Domestic Product. In Parliament on Thursday (Mar 3), MP Baey Yam Keng asked for an update on the progress, noting that the goal was an ambitious one amid global challenges. Pointing out that manufacturing is diverse with many industries but Singapore as a small country must focus on its strengths, Mr Baey asked what those industries might be and what is being done to develop them.
