In the past, library users had to be able to read, or library collections would be useless to them. Today, digital literacy is as important as knowing your ABCs, said MP Baey Yam Keng. He said the role of libraries needs to evolve as they can play an “indispensable role” in supporting Singaporeans to navigate the digital world. He also asked how libraries are being refreshed overall to meet changing public needs and interests. Mr Baey spoke in Parliament on Friday (Mar 4).
