Committee of Supply 2022 debate, Day 3: Tan See Leng on developing enterprises of the future
Local enterprises are a critical part of the Singapore growth story and the Enterprise 2030 strategy aims to build and sustain a vibrant ecosystem of such enterprises which are future-ready and can compete globally. Second Minister for Trade and Industry Tan See Leng gave details of the plans in Parliament on Friday (Mar 4). He said Singapore wants to support the growth of high-potential companies to become global champions. This will start on four fronts - developing global-ready executives, creating new corporate ventures, facilitating mergers and acquisitions, and enhancing access to financing. The other major thrust is to strengthen the core capabilities of the broad base of local enterprises in four key areas - capabilities development, internationalisation, digitalisation and innovation. Dr Tan also spoke about how the Government intends to address the significant near-term challenges of rising electricity prices and manpower constraints.
