Committee of Supply 2022 debate, Day 4: Denise Phua on the future of education
Singapore’s education system will lose its currency and relevance if changes are not made, said MP Denise Phua in Parliament on Monday (Mar 7). She said the "frontloading" of education has to change. She added that traditional learning content must be updated to include skills such as digital, data and financial literacy. Ms Phua proposed five ways to begin this journey, including addressing “the restraining forces of change”, such as the increasingly overloaded curricula faced by educators, as well as the challenges of adult learners.
