Committee of Supply 2022 debate, Day 4: Lim Biow Chuan on reviewing curriculum content

03:01 Min

Knowledge is no longer as important as a measure of ability in today’s world, where every student has a technological device to access it, said MP Lim Biow Chuan in Parliament on Monday (Mar 7). Instead, the focus should be on training the mind; how a student can do research, acquire information or discern truth from falsehood. Mr Lim called on the Ministry of Education (MOE) to review the current curriculum content, noting that a previous reduction in curriculum had not resulted in less stress or a lighter workload for students. He also urged MOE to place more emphasis on character development and future competencies.
