Committee of Supply 2022 debate, Day 4: Louis Ng on expanding coverage of carbon tax
The carbon tax currently applies to around 50 facilities which contribute to about 80 per cent of Singapore’s total carbon emissions, but the coverage should be higher, said MP Louis Ng in Parliament on Monday (Mar 7). He asked the Government to consider expanding coverage to all reportable facilities, given that those smaller emitters already have to pay to monitor and measure their emissions, so extra compliance costs are likely to be minimal.
