Should there be initiatives to encourage companies to hire Institute of Technical Education (ITE) graduates? NMP Shahira Abdullah, who asked this question in Parliament on Monday (Mar 7), voiced concern that ITE graduates who are not able to get decent-paying full-time employment may turn to gig work. The longer they stay in gig work, the more difficult it would be for them to get out. She also wanted to know the employment rate and starting salaries for ITE graduates, as well as the number of ITE graduates in traineeships who have converted to full-time employment.
