There has been recent debate over the provision of chairs at retail outlets and the right of retail workers to sit, said MP Leon Perera in Parliament on Wednesday (Mar 1). Noting that there have been multiple studies on the significant health risks associated with prolonged standing and that other countries have enacted laws on the right to sit, he called on the Government to explore similar legislation, saying "the time has come to go beyond industry self-regulation".
