01:56 Min

Singapore imports more than 90 per cent of its food from about 170 countries and only 10 per cent is locally produced. Since 2019, the country has been working to increase food production with the goal of meeting 30 per cent of its nutritional needs by 2030. In Parliament on Wednesday (Mar 1), MP Lim Wee Kiak asked for a progress update. He also wanted to know what the Government is doing to help local importers become more resilient against any food supply shocks.
