Committee of Supply 2023 debate, Day 5: Cheryl Chan on using subterranean space
With many competing needs for Singapore’s limited land, could using more subterranean space be a possibility, asked MP Cheryl Chan in Parliament on Thursday (Mar 2). She raised the prospect of future integrated bus and MRT depots being built underground. As Singapore steps up greening efforts, she said the public faces challenges living harmoniously with nature. Ms Chan called for greater use of science and technology to expand ecological corridors. For example, heat maps could be used to identify warm spots to decide how to design green spaces for natural shade.
