Committee of Supply 2024 debate, Day 1: Derrick Goh on easing business procurement and payments
Noting that the Ministry of Finance (MOF) had announced the Tender Lite procurement category in Budget 2023 to ease the Government tender journey for small- and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), MP Derrick Goh asked if the ministry could provide an update on the progress and effectiveness of Tender Lite’s implementation and share plans to further ease the administrative burden on SMEs during the procurement process. He also asked if it would consider improving inclusiveness so that smaller SMEs and start-ups can participate in Government procurement. He also wanted to know how the Government can improve the disbursement of payments and grants to be timelier and more frictionless to help SMEs ease their cashflow challenges.
