Committee of Supply 2024 debate, Day 1: Muhamad Faisal Abdul Manap on Singapore population and citizenship
In Parliament on Wednesday (Feb 28), MP Muhamad Faisal Abdul Manap asked if the Government has projected the number of new residents and non-residents for the next five years and whether infrastructure development will be able to support an increasing population in view of pandemic-induced disruption in the construction sector. He also wanted to know about a potential brain drain resulting from greater emigration and what efforts have been taken by the Government to attract Malay talent. Mr Faisal also sought clarification on whether there are cases of PR or citizenship applications being rejected due to the immigration quota having been fulfilled to maintain racial balance in the population.
