Committee of Supply 2024 debate, Day 4: Don Wee on Government’s go-green efforts
In Parliament on Monday (Mar 4), MP Don Wee welcomed the Ministry of Sustainability and the Environment’s inaugural GreenGov.SG report released in December 2023, showing how the public sector was progressing in its green transition. He asked if the next report will include Scope 3 emissions and waste data. Scope 3 emissions are indirect greenhouse gas emissions incurred as part of an organisation’s value chain, such as from the purchase of goods and services or business travel. Mr Wee also asked about feedback from the construction and information and communications technology (ICT) sectors, for which environmental sustainability criteria was added to the evaluation of Government tenders. He wanted to know the timeline for expanding the measure to other public sector procurement sectors.
