Committee of Supply 2024 debate, Day 4: Mariam Jaafar on investment in lifelong learning
One of the most striking announcements in Budget 2024 is the significant investment to support lifelong learning, said MP Mariam Jaafar. Speaking in Parliament on Monday (Mar 4), she stressed the need to demonstrate the impact and value of these investments over time, as well as curate the right courses, raise awareness, help people overcome the mental, physical and financial hurdles to take ownership of their learning and match them to the right courses, as well as use the newly acquired knowledge and skills to land a job or move up in their current roles with better salaries and prospects. She wanted to know how the Government will track and ensure that its investment will achieve the desired results and help Singaporeans grow in their careers and take on new ones.
