Committee of Supply 2024 debate, Day 4: Rahayu Mahzam on plan for MOE Kindergartens
Children from low-income families should not be denied an opportunity of education and programmes that could make a difference to their development and future success in life, said Senior Parliamentary Secretary Rahayu Mahzam. Speaking in Parliament on Monday (Mar 4), she stated that early childhood education and development is a key aspect of the strategy in sustaining social mobility and the Ministry of Education (MOE) Kindergarten is therefore also an important avenue to provide support for families in the lower-income group. She wanted to know about plans that MOE Kindergarten has in the future to provide more services or support for low-income families. She also wanted to know if there are plans to enhance the support given to families in need through further subsidies or programmes.
